Exercise Therapy For Chronic Musculoskeletal Pain
Central nervous system over activity is a common feature of chronic musculoskeletal pain. In some patients even if the original cause of the pain has been resolved, often their brain believes it to be still painful causing movement related pain memory. This hampers a persons desire to move or get back to their normal activities.
The answer is often exercises to slowly and systematically desensitise painful movement and activity, at Le Roux Chiropractic our chiropractors are well versed in these exercises and how to tackle this kind of pain effectively. They are able to prescribe exercise routines and advise on how to perform them correctly. Everybody is different and has different tolerances so these exercises are specific for the problem and the person and it is therefore never advised that you do the same exercises as your friend or partner without first seeking advice.
The important feature here is to understand that as long as your chiropractor is happy that your original cause of the pain has been resolved then movements that cause pain are not necessarily doing harm and you have to almost reteach your brain that certain movements no longer hurt.
